PTSA Treasurer

Shannon Emery has been a Meadowlark parent since her daughter started Kindergarten in 2019! Now she has a 4th Grader! Two adorable, very fuzzy, but hypo-allergenic kitties also share her home – Katarina Faux Paws and Oliver Twist-y Tail. (Yes, she’s responsible for their silly names. I promise there’s a story behind each one.) Her husband, Scott, is pretty cool too!

Shannon joined the Board as Treasurer three years ago and is currently serving her second 2-year term. What can we say? This gal loves accounting so much she does it for a living! Additionally, Shannon helps with many PTSA programs and committees and is also part of our Communications team!

Some fun facts about Shannon:

  1. She’s an ambidextrous “lefty”
  2. She has a custom fly rod designed by a Meadowlark mom (it’s purple)
  3. She’s learning to play the guitar
  4. She prefers herbal tea over coffee

Spring is her favorite season and she could NEVER be accused of being an early bird! Night owl? Definitely! She loves all things technology and being self-employed! She’s currently pursuing a degree in Psychology but is definitely putting her accounting and non-profit experience to work with the PTSA. Something else to know about Shannon is that she doesn’t like sweets – the way to her heart is through salt and cheese (she’s never met a charcuterie that she didn’t like)! Don’t believe us, take a peek in her refrigerator.

While work, volunteering, and her daughter’s activities keep her schedule full, she still manages to find time here and there for fly-fishing with her hubby. Books, strategy/video games, and puzzles are also some of her faves.

Friends describe her as:

  1. An Optimistic Realist
  2. Friendly
  3. Detailed
  4. Empathetic

When asked why she joined the PTSA as a board member, she replied:

“I love being part of our community and helping to make the school experience positive for our amazing kiddos! I’ve met so many incredible and helpful Meadowlark parents over the years and when the Treasurer position opened up, I instantly knew that was how I could pay it forward. Those parents are now some of my favorite people!”

Her favorite thing about Meadowlark?

“The learning style! We specifically chose Meadowlark because of the non-traditional learning structure, which follows the scientific principles of how people learn in this day and age. Between that and how passionate our principals are about every child’s success, along with the daily social-emotional component, it’s a great fit!”
