We had SO much fun at Meadowlark’s “Reptiles & Reading” event on Wednesday, February 22nd!
My Nature Lab, a local non-profit in Louisville focused on conservation through education, brought several members of their living classroom to our very own Curiosity Center. Students and their parents were able to hold and learn about some awesome reptiles, enjoy live book readings and meaningful learning experiences created and facilitated by Meadowlark’s very own 7-8 LC Ecology students, and browse for new books at the Book Fair – all before school began! The PTSA provided breakfast goodies and we’d like to shout out a huge THANK YOU to all the parent volunteers who helped make this event a success! From setup to running the cash registers to clean up – we couldn’t have done it without you!
Thanks to everyone’s support:
- Meadowlark raised $2,200 in cash and $880 in Scholastic Dollars that will go to new books and resources in the Curiosity Center!
- Families generously donated 34 books to our Curiosity Center from the wish list bin!
- $212 was donated to All for Books, which Scholastic matches and donates to school communities across the country that are in need of books!
- The school used their All for Books donations to help 20 students at Meadowlark pick out books!
The Daily Camera also joined in the fun – check out their featured article and pictures from the event below!

“My heart is happy. I love events where we have the opportunity to come together, be curious, learn and engage with each other. We have an incredible Meadowlark community that I am so grateful for.” – Ms. Steele, Curiosity Coach & Teacher Librarian
