Walk and Roll to School day – Thursday!!

From Denise’s email:

Join us for Walk & Roll to School Day on Thursday, October 11th!

Show your support for physical activity and clean air by lacing up your “kicks” and joining thousands of BVSD students, parents, teachers and administrators as they walk, bike or scooter to school.  Enjoy a snack, sign a banner, get a sticker and start your day strong! A BIG THANK YOU to Shannon Kaple for organizing this event!

UPDATE: The feedback from parents is that having bikes/helmets coming to school for the Bike Safety Unit in PE this week was too much. Therefore, Mrs. Sanchez and Mr. G will still be teaching Bike Safety this week but not with bikes. We are planning on having a full-on Bike Unit for the spring week long celebration of Walk & Roll week. We are encouraging everyone to walk & roll to school on Thursday, Oct. 11 as Meadowlark School celebrates this event. We apologize that this was missed in yesterday’s MAV Minute tidbits.

Our annual SHOE DRIVE is happening this week! Oct. 8-11.  Drop off boots, sandals, athletic and dress shoes tied or banded together.  Please no cleats, flip flops, crocs, muddy, ripped or torn shoes. Please no plastic or paper bags.  Collection boxes are locted in all entry vestibule areas.

STUDENTS WHO RIDE BUSES: Students from Arapahoe Ridge will be meeting with parent volunteers to ride their bikes at 8:10am in front of the Club House and ride to school together.  Students who ride bus 311 & 318, coming from both the Compass and Arapahoe Ridge neighborhoods will be dropped off at the corner of Flatiron Meadows & Meadow Sweet Lane.  From there, you will all walk the rest of the way with Mr. Caldwell. Walk & Roll to School Day is for everyone!

HELMETS ON, HEADS UP!   Be aware of Meadowlarks new designated bike lanes and dismount zones that will help all walk and rollers get to school safely throughout the school year. During the week of October 8th look for our freshly painted “DISMOUNT” tags on several sidewalks leading to the school. If you see a DISMOUNT tag, hop off of your bike and walk your bike to the racks OR redirect to one of our designated bike lanes – CLICK HERE / MAP that conveniently connect with one of three bike racks on campus.  A BIG THANKS to Meadowlark parents Dax Burgos and Blair Young and the nonprofit Community Cycles for their help with this project.
