  1. Hi!! I know you guys don’t make the decisions on field trips, but my 6th grade daughter is disappointed that there’s no field trip for them this year. After missing all fields trips in 3rd and 4th due to COVID, she’s super aware of all the experiences the kids coming up through those grades are getting. (Especially watching her brother partake in these experiences) Do you know if 5/6 will have a field trip this year?

    1. Hi Heather L,

I wanted to reach out to you regarding your question on the PTSA page. This question might be better to ask the 6th grade LC staff regarding any field trips. From a PTSA financial perspective – the PTSA gave the school a check for 55k last year from our Gala FUNdraiser. The school then allot each LC the SAME amount to use towards adding experiences towards their LC’s and budgets for other programs – all made public at our PTSA General Meeting. The 5/6 LC chose to add an additional 2nd elective all year so students had more choices in their learning and passions rather than “one day” experience. This is what makes 5/6 unique from other schools and students in this age group.

COVID changed a LOT of experiences for those students that the school really isn’t able to make up for…unfortunately. So maybe help steer your daughter in the excitement towards what her grade DOES have as a result of this fundraiser which would NOT exist without the funds from these PTSA FUNdraisers.

This is her list…. It might not be the “field trip” experience her sibling is getting…but COVID affected that group also just in other ways. Hope that information is helpful and reach out to Meadowlark Staff if you need any additional support!

I will be sure on PTSA Communications that I remind the 5/6LC that this is where their “experiences” went towards! Thanks for bringing that to my attention!
